Welcome to the Beamont Teachers Collective.
As principal at Beamont Collegiate Academy I’m privileged to work with this collective of talented and inspirational  teachers who continue to develop and improve as a team and as individuals. This site is a forum in which you will see them share their successes, failures, frustrations and moments of joy via a collection of blogs and videos, that they experience in their classrooms.

This isn’t a forum in which you’ll encounter teachers telling you “the way to do things” but you will encounter teachers describing strategies and ideas that they have employed in their classrooms and in their wider roles at the school. This isn’t a showcase. They’re a pretty humble lot our teachers. More like a fireplace around which they are gathered to share teaching ideas and talk about the research evidence that influences their thinking and practice.

You’ll hear from teachers in the early stages of their careers through to more experienced staff who remember the overhead projector being the trailblazing technology of the day. The contributors to the site are truly a collective: a group of people acting and working together to improve the outcomes and life chances of the youngsters that attend our school. A collective of teachers deeply invested in becoming better at what they do; a team that fully grasps and understands their professional obligation to continue to improve as a teachers.

The idea from this site actually came from the period of time that schools were closed as part of the national lockdown in Spring 2020. During this time teachers found a new voice and wrote with insight and eloquence about how they continued to teach our students remotely, underpinned by a willingness to support each other during that unsettling time. So really, what follows is part legacy of what has gone before and an insight into their classroom experiences since September 2020.

I hope you enjoy reading about their work as much as I have.
